Ladies Hen Weekend
September 9th 2006.
Instructor Louise Reeve taught a basics class for a group of ladies on their hen weekend.
The group had never done this sort of training but took to it like ducks to water.
Louise covered the basics of awareness, boundary control, the fence, using your body language and your voice.
The ladies all undertook two verbal defence drills against the bulletmen. They were all amazed at the variety of scenarios that the guys came up with. Circled up in the middle of the course, comments like 'I was surprised at how much of an adrenaline dump I got watching the others' were offered.
After a quick break, the group then learned the impact skills they needed to defend against an attacker.
These were practised against a variety of pads including the Hammerhead targets and the Bulletman heads.
Having learned the striking skills, each attended then got to practice them in some very realistic fight scenarios. These ladies showed true spirit and drive and kicked our butts.
All in all, a fantastic day and a really novel way to spend you hen weekend.

My colleagues at work are so impressed by my comments that they are going to try to get a group together!After all the high of adrenaline we had a fantastic tea.
